Beyond a Dream is not simply about basketball but about overcoming obstacles to reach far beyond limitations. It’s not merely about statistics or winning percentage but recognizing the value of life. It captures the amount of fight in a family, the courage of a mother, and the joy of chasing dreams.
Of course, in Beyond a Dream, Mark Krebs answers many questions about the last four years of Kentucky Basketball that is of interest to so many Kentucky fans. The book will help Kentucky fans understand the differing styles of Coach Cal, Billy G, and Tubby. The book also offers an opportunity to get a first-person account of what life was like earning a spot on a division I program, withstanding the daily grind of a student-athlete, and riding the rollercoaster from an NIT bound team to being the #1 team in the nation.
This book also chronicles the amazing fight of Terri Krebs, Mark’s Mom, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2001 and was given 9 months to live. Not willing to accept that fate, Terri, with the help and strength of Mark and the entire Krebs family, survived through 390 chemotherapy treatments and 7 surgeries. Beyond a Dream details her amazing fight to achieve every goal that she set including celebrating senior day at Center Court in Rupp Arena with her son Mark.
Mark always felt there was a reason he got to experience everything he did at Kentucky. There was a reason he survived the coaching changes and eventually earned a scholarship under Coach Calipari. Mark is forever grateful to the support he received from the University, all the ‘CATS fans in the Big Blue Nation, and from those who are just familiar with his story. He understands he was blessed with amazing opportunities while playing for the Cats, and he feels like now it is his turn to give back. Beyond a Dream is just the first step.
Beyond a Dream is not only a tribute to Terri Krebs but an inspiration to anyone searching for a reason to chase beyond their own dreams.
